Antoine Bibesco inherited an estate of over 2,000 acres of farmland, vineyards, orchards and forests in Corcova. He was particularly fond of the region and spent many summers with his family in a house surrounded by a large botanical garden.

In the early 20th century, he decided to expand the vineyard to 100 hectares. He brought a young French agronomist Aristoteles Sauget with whom he entrusted the planting and maintenance of the French vines, the construction of a modern winery and the management of all his property.
